A grotesque and grand indie rock band led by London-based New Zealander Finn Andrews.

The seeds were sown in 2001, when Finn Andrews – then just 16 years old – sent out his early demos to several record labels. As soon as Rough Trade founder Geoff Travis spotted his talent, he brought the band under the umbrella of his other label, Blanco y Negro. The 2000s, defined by the cult of the frontman and the rise of indie rock, were also The Veils’ own age of renaissance, amplified by Andrews’ magnetic stage presence. Across a career spanning more than 20 years, the band performed at nearly every iconic club and festival imaginable and released seven studio albums. On their 2016 album Total Depravity, El-P from Run the Jewels was among those who took a seat in the producer’s chair. The band’s music was carried onto the silver screen by cinema’s most singular and iconic directors, including David Lynch, Tim Burton and Paolo Sorrentino. The Veils also stepped in front of the camera in the 15th episode of Lynch’s unsettling masterpiece Twin Peaks, where live performance footage became part of the series’ narrative.

Plenty of guitar, endless romance, and a sweep of stage lights powered by indie ballads that have echoed across languages, from ‘Lavinia’ to ‘Grey Lynn Park’.
