After a five-year break, Nayah, which helped reggae take root in Istanbul, comes to Salon with some of the pioneering names of Türkiye’s reggae scene.

Bringing Turkish melodies together with the sound of Jamaica in the same groove, Sattas have taken Turkish reggae to international stages from the Montreal Jazz Festival to Sziget, and will take centre stage tonight. In the booth are Ras Memo, known as Türkiye’s first reggae DJ, and C-Fyah, one of Nayah’s resident DJs from 2013 to 2020. Also on the line-up are Özge Ürer, who brings together reggae, dub and bass with Anatolian touches, and Melis Karaduman, whose music moves between R&B, soul, jazz and alternative music. Umut Tanılkan will also be among the evening’s guests.

A night that brings together the microphone and the booth, rhythms from Jamaica and sounds from Istanbul.
