A band from Istanbul’s alternative scene that never stops breaking the mould.

Their story began with acoustic performances and led to their debut album Full Faça in 2012. Rather than staying in one place, over the years they have repeatedly torn down and rebuilt the world they created. With Fırtınayt, they plugged in and moved closer to the dance floor, while Defansif Dizayn took them into a more layered sound world spanning rock, electronica, funk and psychedelia. By creating not only their music but also their own language, characters, humour and stage rituals, they became more than a band, evolving into a universe entirely their own. With lyrics that sometimes feel as familiar as a conversation with friends and at other times strange enough to belong only to them, they sing about the absurdities of everyday life, feeling trapped in the city, love, anxiety and all the glitches that come with trying to grow up, becoming the soundtrack to a generation. Now, at Salon, they are turning back the clock for three nights, revisiting three different albums in three different concerts and returning each one to the spirit of its time.

On the second night, we plug in and let the storm break. Leaving behind Büyük Ev Ablukada’s mostly acoustic early days, Fırtınayt marked the band’s shift into what they called their ‘new electric form’, with bass, drums, synths and effects taking a more prominent role. With songs everyone knows by heart, from ‘Güneş Yerinde’ to ‘Evren Bozması’ and ‘Arayan Bulur’ to ‘Hayaletler’, the album makes melancholy danceable. A night when your mind lets go and drifts away, while your feet stay right where they are, keeping the beat: Fırtınayt.
